Took the mufflers off my L81 today,ran straight pipes back from where the muffler inlets were with chrome down turn tips. 
Sounds awesome! Still have the stock cat on so not as loud as I thought it would be. 
Cheap way out instead of buying Flowmaster 40's.

I have seen this done and I admit it's not as loud as I thought it would be. I have a 1980 with true duals and flowmaster 40's and I just love it!
