Adam, there is really nothing special about the hose. Any parts store will do. Just be sure to get neoprene instead of rubber. The gas will rot the rubber. Rubber hose is usually for vacuum or washers. Any thing that says oil resistant, or fuel resistant, will work fine. This is often, but not always, a braided reinforced hose when purchased from a parts house. Don't let them sell you the pricy high pressure hose. You don't need it.

The line from the cannister to the carb is neoprene the whole way. The line from the cannister to the tank is mostly steel line, and only neoprene in short sections. One at the front, and another at the rear.

Adam, I also had a periodic gas smell and decided to change all hoses going to the canister. The smell continued for one more week but I haven't had it in a few months. The hoses were deteriated bad. I think maybe there was gas in the canister that needed to be evaporated out by a long drive. Anyway, new auto part store fuel hoses and now no more smell. I'm glad I gave it one extra week cause I was getting ready to replace the canister if that didn't work.
