I just noticed on the Mid America website"chambered exh.system. Can someone fill me in on this exh. system? I did not see cat.converters and thats OK with me.Are the mufflers built in? Are they restrictive or just the opposite? thanks

BUY THEM!!!! NOT AN EXPERT LIKE JOEL AND THE OTHERS BUT I PURCHASED THEM FOR MY VETTE AND THEY SOUND AWESOME, LOTS OF COMPLAMENTS. THE CHAMBERED OR WAVES IN THE PIPE ARE THE BAFFLES, SO IT IS SORT OF LIKE RUNNING STRIAGHT PIPES BUT DIFFERENT ( told ya no expert here) the baffles acts the restrictors for the exhaust, they mount right up the stock manifold, and tail pipes. I have been pulled over several times in the vette (only 1 ticket) and never for the exhaust system, i might be going deaf but i am enjoying the ride. they are loud in some peoples opinion, when you open it up and such, at a steady flow of fuel they are very enjoyable to hear, set off car alarms every day. hope this helps, some else well be more techical then me.

I'll agree with the LOUD. Helped a fellow member add mufflers to his chambered system cause he couldn't stand it any more! I prefer that the Vette itself get noticed, not the noise it makes

Go with the chambered exhaust,,I have them on my 69, along with headers,, what a sound,,now granted if you wish to cruise and listen to Barry Mantelow on the cd player,, dont get them,, but if you wish to hear muscle,, go for it,, the pipes act as their own muffler, they have crimps in the chamber to baffle the flow of exhaust but not as restrictive as mufflers,rd

Personally fellas, I don't get the attraction of making a really neat old sports car sound like an old rusty dump truck.
The muffled whine of a powerful, well tuned V8 plus a little scratch now & then is all the sound I need to hear from my 78.
My neighbors love me. I maintain quiet with my passion.

I have the hot sticks on mine and do not find them loud or overbearing.
Just like any performance exhaust they are going to get louder when you
get above 4500 rpm. I don't want a performance car that sounds like a
daily drive sedan. Too me, they simply make the sound the engine was
meant to make. I have not had any tickets and I live in an area where
the noise ordinance is actively enforced.

One more for chambered. They sound great! They don't set off any more alarms than the flowmasters did in parking garages and to me sound better.
