Just got back from the muffler shop,had the cat removed and left the stock pipes and mufflers on. $55.00 and what a difference,best $55.00 ever spent.

That's cool. You must have lienient emission laws there.
 Over here you couldn't get a muffler shop to even consider taking a cat off. (Even if you held a gun to their head.) Just kidding.

I had mine taken off on Monday.  It really does make a big difference.  Usually the muffler shops in Florida won't do that but I know the owner of one and he did it as an off the books repair.

I replaced the cat with a bolt in "test pipe" on my white 79. Big difference, especially in the sound. Also cuts down the under floor heat.
