Hey guys, I finally bit the bullet and orders some heads and cam. The heads are aluminum 64cc/200 runners and cam is Blue Racer 488/510 with advertised duration of 234/244. Original 350 (for now with 383 shortblock sometime next year) with 29K miles in very good shape. It currently has an Edelbrock Performer manifold with original but tired Qjet. The fuel filter is stripped into the carb and the Qjet leaks like a sieve. I have an auto but recently purchased a 4 speed saginaw and will be swapping out the tranny later this year. Rear end is 3.08. No racing other than maybe a trip or two to the drags just to see what it can do. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

I'm not an expert (carbs are voodoo and black magic to me) but would suggest contacting Summit Racing or Jeg's and ask their techs. Tell them the set up you have and your intended use. They should give you good recommendations. Even then it may take some tuning or re-jetting of the carb to match the cam for best performance.

Gunslinger, thanks for the reply. I did call a couple of suppliers and the more I spoke with them the more I became confused. Opinions are all over the map. I know that Ken likes the Qjets and maybe thats the way to go. I like yourself am a neophite when it comes to carbs. Maybe I'm making an issue out of nothing as I use the car on the street.

A very good street carb is the edelbrock, I have a model 1411 on my vet  for a few yrs & never had a problem. Very easy to adjust & not to costly & there jet kits are easy for anyone. Mine is a 750cfm, but you might want to go with a 650 or 700 if they have it. Just remember bigger is not always the way to go with carbs. Call Edlebrock and explain what you have & they'll recommend the correct carb. I recently switched to a 750 double pumper speed demon, which give me more power at high RPM. This is also a great carb , but much more difficult to tune. I'll be installing the Edelbrock on my 67 Dodge 340 stroker(392) & it should be a good driver. I'll be up around your neck of the woods this weekend..staying close to the Del Water Gap.

Vette(s): 77 L48 Original paint True dual stainless exhaust Edelbrock intake manifold and Thunder series carb Distributor has an pern upgrade
I changed my intake and carb this spring.  I called Edelbrock tech support and told them what I had and what I wanted.  I have the Edelbrock Performer Intake #2701 and they suggested two carbs that would match.  I picked #1806 from their thunder carb series.  It's 650 cfm electric choke.  They also gave me the numbers of all the pieces I would need to do the instalation.  The carb also comes with great installation instructions.  Another thing--the teck rep told me to call Summit Racing and order the parts using EDL-part number- and they would be reasonably less expensive.

The 1806 is what I have on the dodge now & it's a great carb
