Vette(s): 1982 corvette crossfire production numer C5101985. Color is silver and claret. All original numbers match. slight mods to crossfire for better efficiancy and power balanced and added fuel pressure assembly between throttle bodies,
this question has probably been asked at some point but i cant find anything in the search for it

so the guy I got my 82 from said that he put Be cool radiator fluid in it ( im not sure how to tell if thats what is in it or not, they guy said a lot of things that i have determined untrue about what was done to the car from minor repairs that i have done and seen for myself that most of it was factory and never been touched) .

I just checked my fluid levels and noticed the radiator fluid is low (light leak on radiator- going to replace at some point) anyways
Ive heard the Green radiator fluid plays heck on heads, and just need to top it off. do I need to order the Be cool or will say Valvoline universal max life work?

The radiator and engine components are all original and I dont want to damage anything.

thanks

Green coolant has been used forever.  I use it in all my vehicles.  I asked Tom DeWitt what kind of coolant he recommended for the aluminum radiator I bought from him.  He said it didn't really matter, just make sure you use distilled water to mix it with.  Not tap, and especially not soft water.

So i was miss informed. I just dont want to damage anything. Since i cant be sure what fluid is actually in it mixing from what ive read isnt a good thing. Yes the fluid looks green. Flush and refill sounds like my best action at this point

So i contacted be cool directly. Their. Radiator fluid is safe to mix with other types, i will copy the email in this post later when i get home.

Hello Marcus

Be Coolant Super Duty antifreeze is blue in color and is a propylene glycol base. You are correct it is best to use the same coolant but you can mix Be Coolant with any color or type coolant.

Thank you
