Just a quickie, I have been offered a set of side exhausts from a big block corvette at a very good price, my question is what would the issues be if I fitted them to my 350 1979 vette. I was originally thinking of fitting a dual chambered system, a set of headers and get rid of the air pump anyway but these are so cheap I had to ask the question. Thanks. |bouncy|

If it is just the mufflers, they should be similar enough. I just removed Hooker side pipes from my 72 350. It looks like so long as the collectors from the headers you intend to use are the same size as the BB headers and mufflers/heat sheild should "slide" together.

Vette(s): 1973 Orange Metallic Coupe (orig owner), L82, 4 spd (WR), PS, (A/C & PW (I installed from wrecked 73)), leather, AM/FM Stereo, ran with '65 FI unit earlier & will again some day. 2023 Accelerate Yellow HTC Stingray
Are you looking at factory side exhausts or Hooker "nest of snakes" header/side pipes? The former would require a small amount of cutting and welding to adapt to the small block manifold. The latter would only yield the side pipe/muffler assembly. I've had them both and they both sound great.
