Vette(s): White '79 Corvette. It's a driver.
Sorry 'bout that Andy.
Here it is;
You might also want to check with Corvette Specialties (right here at C3VR) for a system that comes complete with the mufflers. If I had to do it again, I'd go that route.

After reading this I'm thinking about having my local muffler guy cut in a crossover to maybe smooth out the sound and eliminate some of the popping. My Big Block with Headers, I get a little popping sometimes. Do you guy's think this would make it sound a little smoother.

Here where I live in the Socialist Republic of Kalifornia USA, my friend owns a muffler shop, for a 21/2" alumn. system with Flow's or any upper end mufflers you desire and SS tips is just about the same price $AU1200-$US950.. now if you live out in the mid west prices are a little cheaper, whats $100 one way or another, what you might want to think about is if you buy a system from the US, you might save a couple $, don't forget shipping, but what if the system you bought from the US is not made correctley, or maybe the dock worker drove a fork lift over it, and it does happen, are you going to send it back or wait to collect the ins. money, if that were to be the case that $AU1200 local muffler shop price wouldn't look so bad.Ermm.....BTW, Larry's is a killer deal no doubt about it, most muffler shops can not compete specially here in Calif, my friend told me his cost for parts alone was more than the complete after market sys, the after market sys that I bought and installed on the LT-1 was made dead nuts, , the only part he made for me was a double flanged 3" to 21/2" collector reducer, so I could drop the collector reducer to have room to pull the short primary out of the secondary pipe, I have under car Hookers and if you weld the primary pipe directly to the reducer like most shops do you have to pull the headers or cut the weld at the reducer- primary pipe to be able to pull the exh system to be able to pull a 4-speed.

Bio, if you get popping through the exh the cause's could be a over rich condition in the carb, if you run a smog pump it could be a bad "gulper" valve, or loose header bolts or a bad header or collector gasket, if air is drawn into the sys. between the head and header flange you may get a pop through the exh or at the flange, as far as the bal. tube, I can't see cutting one in just aft of the trans crossmember would cause a problem, besides where else would you put one, just make sure your sys is hanging correctley before cuttin in the tube........I meant the muffler sys!  anips2009-06-28 19:10:48
