I have a 1969 427 with the original A6 A/C compressor. It developed a leak and I had it replaced with an aftermarket brand. Should I have the original one overhauled or buy a remanufactured A6 ? I would like to keep the car original. Any suggestions?

Personally, I have not had very good luck with reman compressors, tho I have had better luck with the A6 than with the R4. After replacing the one on my 'Burban 3 times with a reman, I finally bit the bullet and bought a new one.
That being said....if you can find a place to rebuild yours, I would go that route, but make sure you check their track record. Also, if you do have yours rebuilt, make sure you demand that they do NOT remove/damage the original decals on the housing...that's what make the compressor original to the car.
I need to rebuild the compressor on my '74. My intention is to buy a reman, the swap all of the guts into my original housing...at least that's the plan.

Thanks for the info. The compressor is original with original decals still in place. I think I will look into having the it rebuilt..
