I just purchased the A/C hot water valve from Ecklers. It came with no instructions/diagram. Has anyone else purchased/installed this item? If so, What is the direction of flow....in the side and out the bottom? Is the small port stem on top for vacuum control (if desired)? Is the part installed by cutting both heater core hoses and creating a flow loop before it reaches the heater core box...correct. Where did you actually attach it on the right side of the engine compartment? If someone has this installed, please send a photo to my email address. Thanks in advance.

I am trying to track down where the vacuum line goes from the control valve, which line on the controller inside the car goes to this, mine is unhooked, and I have gotten some good feedback on this forum.

Without looking at your engine, I can say how the factory put the valve in.
One heater hose runs from the waterpump to the heater core. The other hose is from the core to the passanger side rear of the intake manifold. The factory valve screws into the manifold, and the line connects to the valve. The vacuum line does go to the small port to operate the shut off when the A/C is on.

My '81 came with a hot water cut-off valve from the factory, so I am guessing your '82 did also. It is installed inline in the smaller of the two heater hoses. Look on the passenger side of the engine compartment. Mine was riveted to the rear side of the fenderwell, toward the bottom. In fact, to get at the bottom clamp, it was easier to come at it from the bottom of the car. Had to drill out the rivets to remove. If you do similarly, I would assume the new one will look similar and go in the same way.

82's have the shut off mounted up top on the passenger side due to the configuration of the coolant lines on the cross-fire engines. Much better than our 80-81's. I must have looked at about a dozen + 82's over the weekend.
