I hope this is posted???? I have a problem with my A/C belt chattering. I believe my old mechanic replaced the regular length belt with a shorter belt, two inches shorter I believe. Anyone know for sure, I lost my old mechanic due to illness due to illness so I'm kinda lost. Thanks, Gene

What exactly are you asking?
Is the belt loose, or just worn out, or is there something else going on?

Just a thought.........your clutch could be kicking in and out due to the low pressure switch........

Or maybe the A/C system VIR valve was converted to an orifice with a separate receiver dryer. This system cycles the compressor on and off. I have heard it will make the belt chirp when the compressor kicks on.

I have found that new belts are a metric size, they just dont fit the pully's the way the old ones did and tend to make noise, if the belt get's glazed it will do this also. Take a wire brush and hold it on the underside of the belt with the engine running, cleans the glaze off. Be very carefull when doing this!!!!
