I recently purchased my first vette, 1982 with cross fire fuel injection. The engine started surging and won't idle. With a steady foot on the gas it will the engine will surge. It won't idle very long without dieing. I changed pulgs a week ago and ran fine after that. After this problem I changed the fuel filter but no help. I also checked and there are no codes stored in the computer. Any ideas?

Thanks for the advice. Do I need to take the two injecters apart to clean them? I added a can of fuel injector cleaner to the fuel about 1 week ago, I also sprayed the throttle body and outside of the injectors with injector cleaner today.

Check for vacuum leaks, a stuck open EGR valve, plugged idle air control motor passages, or a faulty idle air control motor. Also check fuel pressure (S/B 9-13 psi).

Hi Guys, Does anyone know how long it takes to get a password from the crossfire website? I signed up 4 days ago and still nothing. I sent a request to the moderator and still nothing.
Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks!

Thanks!

I fixed surging by balancing the throttle bodies. It made a big difference. If the idle is high, you probably have a vacuum leak.

Sounds like the IAC motor has gone bad. Not sure if this year has this on the TBI's or not. this motor regulates the air into the engine at idle and closes down during acceleration and controls part throttle air. Sounds like it may be sticking or going bad. Quick fix if its the problem.
