More '82 air pump questions?
What will happen if I just remove the belt? I know I can remove the entire system, cutting, crimping, plugging, etc., but it's hot outside and my air pump bearings are making noise....do I have to do all that?

You can remove the belt, no problems. I had a hell of a noise when we were going the Carson City last year and we pulled into a rest area and I found that the noise was the air pump pulley bearing so I just cut the belt and off we went.

I remember that very well.
My bearings have been noisy since I bought the car 4 years ago, but they are still running.

Thanks Dave,
Mine have been making noise for over a year, and Saturday I think it locked up for a few seconds, it left the belt squealing loudly for several seconds until I revved it. I think I might just remove the belt until the weather cools and I can remove the entire system.

Dave,
If your car has been running successfully since then, I think I'll try it, at least unitl I get to remove it entirely.
Thanks,
