Welcome to the Shark Tank, Korey!!

'82 was a one year only engine(for Sharks), so a lot of the emissions stuff is unique to that year. Be prepared to spend some $$$ to keep the air friendly!! Most older smog equip is getting very hard to find, and expensive! More info will come...you can bet on it!! This is the BEST Shark site out there!

Welcome Korey...always happy to see another 82 join.  Keep an eye on eBay....there are a couple of guys who keep scrappin 82's (good reason to check daily ours is still in the garage ).....here in Texas we have to wait until the car is 25 years old, then we no longer have to pass any emmissions test...yeehaw next year be 25 -- anything goes....

Hey...if that crossfire engine runs smooth (after it warms up) I wouldnt worry about it....save the money for boosting horse power.

thanks for the welcome  Man ,here in the dayton, ohio area they just did away with all that emissions crap but like you said next year wont matter anyway. and will be adding horsepower ordered the kn filters they say 3-5 extra hp. But like I tell the ricers  when a car looks good you dont have to drive fast  and for my money no car looks better then a c3 vette

Especially an '82!!
You should be able to find a used smog pump, but check to see how many miles are on it. They are mechanical and do wear out. Mine is making funny noises like the bearings are loose
Not sure how much the old units help the atmosphere, especially when we only drive them six months a year. But I guess it all adds up.
Good luck on your search.

Vette(s): 1975 C3 Red, T-Tops, Black Interior. All I need is time and money! Getting there!

And it will take some time. But you might be suprised at how much of that you can get at regular part houses.  Many of the manifold tubes, the pump, valves, can all be purchased there.  The brackets, pulleys, and things like that are much harder to come by.

And the fact that you are in Ohio means you need to try to come to Cuyahoga Falls on Aug 26.  See the Ohio Gathering thread.
