80' fuel light will not turn off

Help.. I have a 80' vette and found the light was missing for the low fuel light. now i have it in...it's will not turn off!!
Any help would be great...

It's not just a light in a holder, there is a small circuit board that goes in the hole and the bulb plugs into that. Did you have the board? About 1" square.

So what you're saying is that the light bulb is not attached to a little board and THEN to the gauge bezel??

correct .. the light is a plastic holder and that twist into the plastic sheet and console.. no board

I'll see if I can find a pic of what you need. Common mistake. The light assembly was missing in my black79 probably from when the dealer swapped the 8 track for the cassette radio when it was new. I found one and replaced it just last winter. Another of mine needed to be repaired, the printed ribbon had a gap in it. Think that one was bad from the factory!

ok i just found out there is a circuit board for the low fuel light.. now where to find one... or a drawing so i can build one...

Thought I had a better pic but this will give you the general idea. I found one on ebay, $25. Just a tip. You can reach it by taking out the glovebox. Easier than removing the gauge bezel again. If your Vette is pretty much unmolested, it may have simply fallen out. Remove the carpeted console side covers and look around, like under the radio.
