Vette(s): 1978 L48, p/s, p/w/ factory ac car factory manual trans has a 350 crate engine w/260hp, but also have original which may be rebuilt- we also have a 76 w/ a 454, and 74 350 in various stages of being rebuilt, plus an 86 and an 02....
I am wondering if the tank on the 74 will fit the 76. The 76 needs the bigger tank, and it will be finished before the 74. The 76 is a 454 and needs more fuel....will it work? Thanks

The tank will physically fit, but the sending unit is on the bottom of the '74, as is the fuel line. The '76 is a bladder type tank, with the "guts" going in from the top. You would have to re-route the fuel lines, and the sender unit wiring from the top to the bottom.
The only difference in the amount of fuel they hold is the bladder...it takes up space on the inside of the tank that the earlier cars used to hold fuel. If all you are trying to do is get more fuel in the tank, you can remove the bladder from the tank.

Be aware, tho...if you remove the bladder, and your tank happens to have a rust-hole in it somewhere, it will leak...new tanks are not that expensive, considering the alternative...
