I have just about finished putting the engine back together, and I think I need to clean out the gas tank. The spare tire carrier is not on the car and I have it up on jacks with the wheels off since I just finished the brakes. Can I clean the tank without taking it out,or should I just go ahead and drop it out. The car has not ran in several years. I also don't no if it leaks, it was empty when I bought it. Any advice would be welcome.

Thanks

I would definitely drop the tank and have it professionally cleaned and leak tested. You're almost there anyway so why not do it now.
