Its been quite some time since I worked on this project after replacing everything. The hoses, dryer, evaporator and compressor rebuilt done years ago, lasted maybe a year or so. Seemed to work OK for 1972 technology - I remember in 1975 it was GREAT to actually have A/C in a car......I've owned the car 51 years
So then after short time the compressor let go and oiled the underside of the hood real good and melted the wires because the safety fuse did not protect the failure....
Now it is time to fix this and what can I do to make this work with what I have done. Is it possible to get a compressor that actually works and will last? Yeah the big heavy thing....Is there some other option for compressor available - I do not want to go with aftermarket system if possible. 😁

The S6 compressor is a direct bolt in replacement for the old oem A6.

My A6 would put out cold air, but there wasn't enough flow. I read where you could replace the blower motor with one for a C4. Because the fan is deeper, it requires a spacer between the motor and the firewall. The article i read made one using plywood.

I've read the same stuff about the C4 blower and a 3/4" spacer. In fact I think I read about it on here back in the 2000's. The problem with the A6 is that you can't get a new one. They are all rebuilt/refurbished and I've heard that those rebuilds aren't very good. The S6 takes less HP to turn, they just aren't as pretty as the old A6. Spray it black and slap a Harrison sticker on it and it looks a little more factory.
After about 8 years, I've lost all my R12 charge and the front seal leaks on my old A6. I've though about the S6 before I get my system recharged again.
