Folks:

Does this stuff really work as well as they say it does?  About to do a lot of work to vette and considering Dewitt replacement.

Thanks,

Gurtz,

I tried that stuff and it didn't work for me. Once I got a DeWitts with dual fans, and an Edelbrock water pump, my BB stays @ 200 degrees consistently.

I've tried it and didn't notice any difference, but there are some people who swear it works.

Supposedly it works best when added to just water and a not a glycol/water mix. Since I use the mix, maybe that's why I didn't see any difference.

I did two things on my 78! Changed the thermostat to a 180 degrees
(from Mid-America) and added Water Wetter to my radiator.

Now my Vette normally runs at 180 degrees and it will run no more than 200 degrees in traffic or on a really hot Arkansas day running the A/C in town or on the highway.

I am very pleased with the results. Clap

I can't say if the thermostat did the most good or if the water wetter did the trick. I think it was just the right combo for my car.

Hope this helps! Thumbs%20Up

I used water wetter and its seems to have worked some. I also had a new thermostat and radiator installed. After my experience in going to pigeon forge to our convention I decided to make some changes.
I would give the water wetter a chance it doesn't cost that much.

I was running a 180 thermostat and my radiator is new, but in traffic on hot days Vette it ran about 200. Changed to a 160 degree thermostat. Car runs now around 170, on hot days 190 tops.

Water wetter does work, but not that good with a 50/50 mixture of anti-freeze. You need to get it to a 20/80 mixture or no antifreeze to work correctly. It allows the water to disipate heat better therfore the less water the less heat transfer.

I have a BB with headers; meaning that heat has been a problem since day 1 and I am really pleased with a new aluminum radiator (there's a few good ones on ebay for much less $$$ than Dewitt), new hoses & new OEM specs thermostat; no electric fans (you might need to upgrade your alternator if you replace the fan for electric).
