Vette(s): 1982 C3 Collectors Edition 44000 miles, sat in the sun most of its life, My wife purchased it for me for Father's Day in 2007 from her girlfriend that had it for 19 years. It is on the road again. I'm retired but it is now my daily driver.
I just receive the GM service manual for my 82.  What a world of difference in the information available.  One thing I did not find which does not surprise me is that it does not have anything like a complete vacuum line layout for the car. 
I would not expect this from a service manual but it would have been nice to have anyway. 
Before I dive into checking/tracing all of the vacuum lines does anyone know or have a drawing of the vacuum system that will affect engine performance?

I'm continuing my saga.

I found that part of my vacuum leak was the vacuum hoses.  Found open or torn hoses.  I have replaced most of the primary system hoses and my RPM did not drop much a of hundred or so.

Used carburetor cleaner and found a couple of small vacuum leaks on the intake manifold.  They were across from each other.  I have ordered a gasket. 

Now comes to my question.

When in college (1965) a friend of mine build a corvette to race at Bonneville Salt Flats.  They always use a copper gasket adhesive on all of the head and intake manifolds they put on. 

  • Is this recommended?
  • Beside following the GM manual on torqueing the manifold down?
  • What else should I look at when I have the intake manifold off and when putting it back on?
