Fan switch doesn't work....could this be a relay or fuse problem ?

Hello,
I don't know if this is common, but the connector had fallen off the switch on my 82. I took the left side panel off the console and it was easy to plug the switch back in.

There's a relay under the hood on the right front area of the firewall. It's not uncommon that the contacts on the plug or relay itself have become very dirty and may simply need cleaning off. That happened on my '78.

Look for the inline fuse, located in the engine compartment above or very near the heater box. That's where my 75 gets power for the fan. if the fuse is good, check that you have power to the fuse. No power to the fuse could be a failed fuse link. There are also dropping resistors on the air duct on the heater box, those could be bad, but you should still get high speed fan.

and dont forget connecting direct power to fan to make sure it still works..

btw.. your fan should be on at least low speed constantly..

they run if the ignition switch is on
