who has my old C3 vin?

Is there a way/protocol  to locate (not through DMV) a previously owned Vette?
 
I was the original owner of a 1975 corvette I sold in 1981 and I have some items that I would like to get rid of to the new owner. Plus If they are like me they would want to know who previously owned the car.
 
 
I wish I could trace my 73

I've heard of a few ways. DMV is one but you asked for another. A buddy in either law enforcement or insurance could do it. I heard that some car dealerships may on the down-low...so to speak. You could pay one of those services that trace such things as well. If you know what area the car may be you could post a craigslist ad...just a thought.

Vette(s): 1973 Orange Metallic Coupe (orig owner), L82, 4 spd (WR), PS, (A/C & PW (I installed from wrecked 73)), leather, AM/FM Stereo, ran with '65 FI unit earlier & will again some day. 2023 Accelerate Yellow HTC Stingray
You could start w/ the person you sold it to and see if that leads to the current owner.

Check the listing here under Research (blue line above). You never know. The current owner or a previous owner might be a member.

Vette(s): 1980 loaded red on red. 68,000 original miles. Second owner. Well documented with all original paperwork. NCRS Founders Award 9/27/14. NCRS Top Flight 10/12/14.
The car would need to be registered or it will not be traced through the RMV or local PD. I tried that route once myself. If you are a member of NCRS their is a forum for that. First I would put the vin on all the corvette forums looking for previous owner.

Yeah, I did try to remember who I sold it to. All I remember, he was a used car dealer. I didn't enjoy selling it, I don't have a copy of transaction so that day draws a blank. :( I have the original spare tire and a "blue plaque"

I did check here, and there isn't a lot of 75's registered. It's not that big of deal for me, I'm more curious.
