Do ya really want to find it? Who knows what's been done to it in 27 years!
I sold my first 78SA back in 91, regretted it for years and decided to find another one. I like the one I have now a lot better. L82 and loaded compared to the old one with L48 with few options. I DO check VIN numbers whenever I see one for sale on ebay, not that I'd ever try to get it back. Just out of curiosity. Good luck with your search, tho.
There is a 1979 registry, but not that many cars listed over there. Try googling 1979 Corvette Registry.

You can do a search of all of the Sharks registered here, by several different methods. Color, engine size, etc.
Check it out! It's fun!
