My 75 has a vacuum line that runs from the rear underside of the car to the engine compartment, it then runs across the firewall and ends near the heater box. It is not hooked up and there doesn't appear to be anything under the hood to hook up to. I think it may be for the rear vent but thats just a guess. Any ideas on what it is? The car is an automatic with air if that makes a difference. Thanks for any help.

Been looking closer at the line and it is not a vacuum line but I think it is a vent for the fuel tank. I think it was routed to the wrong place and possibly should go to the vapor canister?? Is that where the vent line goes?

Yes the vent line from the tank goes to the charcoal cannister. One the ports on the cannister may be labled "tank".

If the line runs all the way to the tank along the driver's side it's a vent line to the charcoal cannister, but that should be located behind the LF wheel well. The only other lines that run all the way to the tank are on the passenger side and are fuel supply and return lines. The 75 non-airconditioned cars had a ventilation plenum under and behind the rear window and it may have gone there, but I doubt you would have that. Are the grilles behind the rear window just decorative or do you have a plenum under them? Could be you do if your car had aftermarket A/C installed.
