Whatever tires you get, check the DOT date code before you install them. Otherwise, you might get new tires that are already 5 years old.

I just switched to 17" on my 68 & 73. Got the wheels & tires from tirerack..it helps that I'm a dealer & get the discount. I put Fusion ZR! 255/50/17 on the 68 & Kumho Ecsta ASX 255/50/17 on the 73. They fit like they were made for the car. The handling is much improved & since I have installed the complete VBP adjustable suspension for & aft you can really feel the difference. I wouldn't go back to 15's if they were free now.

The 255/70/15 is approx 29.1" & the 255-50/17 is 27.1". You can go on tireracks website & look at different tires under specs & see all the tires sizes. Different manufactures of the same size tire will sometimes be different in size because of rubber thickness, tread ,etc. I have adjustable suspensions on both cars so I can raise or lower any corner to the clearance I want. The 255/70/15 is a fairly large tire for the C-3. The 235/70/15 is 28" in dia. & the 225/70/15 is 27.4" which is real close to the 255/70/17.

Could you post pics of the wheels you ended up with ? I'm looking for some 17's for my '76 as well.
In dealing with tirerack, do they seem knowledgeable of the wheels (backspacing and/or offset) that fit our C3's without issues ?
Thanks,
Pancho

Can't get the hyperlink to work, but you can copy & paste to see the wheels on the 73
Got the American Racing
VN515 Torq Thrust II 1 PC(Bright PVD)
Purchased all from tirerack & they will mount & balance. When you search tire rack start with the wheels first...they will only show wheels that fit your car.
