I found a 79 blk/blk L82/auto with 78k miles in the local paper for 4500.00. Someone stole the T tops out of it. Its got desend paint and pretty good interior. They say everything works. Besides the tops it needs brake work.
How much do you think it'll cost to redo the brakes?  Do ya'll think its worth  buying the car? Its been stored in a pole barn out of the rain.Heres a pic. Let me know what ya'll think. Thx Jamie

As far as the brakes are concerned. I'm the kinda person to do it once and do it right. I don't mind working on cars... I just hate redoing something I already did. They say the brakes are soft from sitting. It could be just air in the lines or the Master is going. With the road I live on I don't take chances with my brakes. I live on US 129 just inside of GA. Its like i get to drive the tail of the dragon everyday.

You can get a complete brake kit from Muskeegon Brake for under $500.00, maybe even less. I bought the kit 5 years ago and have never had a problem. Includes 4 calipers with pads, master cylinder, hard and soft lines and brake fluid. Calipers are exchange of course, or if you want total matching numbers, they will rebuild yours.....$4500.00? I'd jump on it....

Pic looks pretty good Jamie. Look it over real good. How is the interior? Tires show much or unusual wear? If you can't get it up on a lift straddle it over a ditch or dpression and crawl under for a peak. Not much $$$ for what can be a pretty nice cruiser.

129 must be like that from start to finish. It runs through some neighboring counties and we cruise it regularly going to our favorite eateries in vettes.

A couple of us have been talking about runnin it from here to PF next summer. (sorry for the short highjack)

Good luck with your find and take your time.

Hard to ask for much for that kind of money. Looks like a good starter. you must have a big driveway. There is a co. that makes a one piece plexi. top for about $400. Good luck Jamie.

I found a pair of fiberglass T Tops on ebay for 200.00. They look like they are in good shape and have the liners. Thats the way I want go.Not to worried about the tops its the brakes I was worring about. Reid said I can get a full kit for around 500 or so. I'm going to jump on it as soon as the wife leaves. LOL BTW ya'll she took the keys to the 74 away from me... She said its hers and if I have the keys i'll probaly have the motor out by the time she gets back.Rolling%20On%20The%20Floor%20Laughing
