What Parts Will You Play With This Weekend?

I guess I should have clarified that the alternator I was working on was the one that was on my LS1. I don't think those alternators are meant to be torn down and rebuilt. The field has to be driven out of the casing. The bearing has to be pressed out of the casing. The output leads are soldered to the rectifier bridge and have to be broken loose to take the casing  apart. It was a bear to work on. But it still works.

The original alternator in our cars are a cakewalk to take apart compared to those LS type.

With the engine running, pull the far end of a vacuum hose that goes to the intake manifold (like the one that runs from the PCV valve to the manifold, for example). I use the end of the vacuum hose that goes from the power brake booster to the intake manifold. Pour part of a can of this miracle liquid into the open hose. I have been amazed at how much stuff Sea Foam burns away. And my impression is that the engine idles better, and acceleration/throttle response is improved (I've used it on more than the Vette).

It ain't gonna turn our L48's and L82's into 496/502 beasts--but it's such an easy-and-cheap-maintenance step, that performs just as it promises, that for me anyway it's something I plan on repeating on a regular basis.

I swapped the 85 mph speedo for a 165 speedo and while in there changed out all the bulbs.  I also changed out the steering box.
