I know some of you are going to want to say my mother did but I'm talking about the rear of my 82CE.Did GM out sorce it or was it made in house.I'd like to change gears (373's) so I'd like to know what I'm starting out with.Thanks?

There were a couple of suppliers for the posi unit, and a couple of different assembly plants. Check the numbers on yours to see what you actually have. Also, check THIS thread for more info...

You may want to re-think going to 373 gears in an '82. It has the 700R4 trans which has a 3.03 (about) first gear and with 373 rear gears it will scream thru first gear in a second! I wouldn't put more than 355's in there. Just my opinion.
