what a quote in 79 by Car and Driver about C3's!

Colleen bought what she saw listed on ebay an article on the road test of the 78 Vette, but it turned out to be the road test for the 79. This is the last paragraph in the article written by Don Sherman for Car and Driver:
"In many ways, 1979 will go down as a serious dent in the Corvette's prestige, even though the car's still capable of earning the best performance profile of any American car ( disregarding fuel economy). The Corvette is getting loose and lazy in its old age. Its appointment with the downsize doctor has been cancelled too many times. We'll be anxious to see the effect of next year's diet, but we won't be really happy with the corvette untill the old girl's been retired. The time has come to pass the crossed flags on to the next generation."
Not too much foresight there, when comparing C3's to C4's now , is there?

I have always enjoyed Car and Driver, But even the good can screw up royally. Case in point. There are others they have done almost as bad. I know it's not true, but we can say that's why Sherman isn't there anymore.

That guys an idiot! Where do you think he's working now? Not only is he shortsighted,or maybe just dumb,he doesnt understand the auto industry he supposedly "writes" about.I just bought a '79,in place of the '77 that was totalled,& I like both cars-and how is a Corvette "downsized"?

As an owner of a 79 Corvette I must say I take pride owning such a great car, BUT I must say in all honesty that in 79 the C3 was getting ols and lazy, the basic frame design was already 16 years old... But still I consider it to be the best looking C3 ever made.

Didn't they also not like the C3 period when the 68s came out? We like what we like. I will never own a Porsche-I don't like the way they look.
