Vette(s): Used to own a 1979 Corvette now owned by JB79
You can determine the exact day your Corvette was "born" a couple different ways.

  • The most definitive way is to check out your C3 Vette's Trim Tag
    1. Find your C3 Corvette's trim tag, which is located on the driver side "A" pillar, just outside of the dash area. You can see it when you open the door. (See example below)
    2. On our Research menu, go to "C3 Corvette Build Dates and Trim Tag Codes" and read through the instructions there on how to decode the codes you see.
  • The quickest way is to use our "C3 Corvette Birthday Calculator"
    1. Grab your VIN from wherever you may have it stored (registration card, insurance card, log in to your insurance website to grab it without going to find the card, off the Vette itself, etc.)
    2. On our Research menu, go to "C3 Corvette Birthday Calculator"
    3. Plug in your VIN and watch the magic happen!

If you give the Calculator a try and then compare it to your Trim Tag, reply to let us know if it was a match or not.

Below is an example trim tag and Birthday Calculator report. You can see they match exactly. Though the Calculator is a "best guess estimate" is is often exactly correct, as in this example.

Oh, and while you're here, if you haven't already, don't forget to Register your Vette!
