I am looking at a Corvette with a VIN # of
194379S709019. Regarding the last six digits-I understand that these numbers are the build sequence-does that mean that there were at least 709,019 Corvettes built in 1969 or does the "7" in 7090190 mean something else?

The VIN breaks down like this:

Division (1): Chevrolet
Car Line (9437): Corvette Sport Coupe
Model Year (9): 1969
Plant (S): St. Louis, MO
Sequence Number: 709019

The sequence number started at 700001. There were a total of 38,762 Corvettes built for the '69 model year.
