Ok, I’m a little confused, I was planning on running a regular air hose thru a piece of conduit, up to the house, then thru the attic, and drop into the garage.

Will this work?

dont use air hose through conduit.. regular air hose expands quite a bit and you lose pressure.. the longer the run the worse it is.

schedule 80 pvc is very rigid and wont cause pressure loss like hose would

I used 3/4 for my run.. be sure to pressure test it before you bury it though.. i had to dig mine backup and fix a joint.. use copious amount of glue to attach pieces. and get 20 ft sections if possible to cut down on joints.

I just looked in the book for my HVLP paint gun

it says you lose 16 lbs every 25 ft with 1/4" ID hose..

and 9 lbs/25ft with 3/8" ID hose.

running 100 ft of hose you would lose 36 lbs of pressure..

If the pressure loss is in the flow of free air through the pipe, wouldn't it be minimized by adding a tank at downstream end? Size of the tank would depend on the amount of use intended.

I dont get the question... the pressure loss is in the expansion of the hose..

running it through a rigid line prevents this, much like using copper line instead of water hose for your house..

I recently left a water nozzle on a hose and left the spigot on .. the hose just about doubled in size.

I overlooked the part about putting a hose in a conduit, guess that threw me.

Ahh, I understand the issue now, I have access to 1" flex tube thats used in underground cable TV construction, it would be a one peice shot from the compressor 150' to the garage, would that be to big?

im talking about the air running through rigid line.. not running through a hose within rigid line.

It's rated at 20 years against water migration, I assume it would be air tight.

i would try pressure testing it..

Make sure to put plenty of outlets for air in the garage. One would not be enough for me and one would always be in the wrong location. Good ideas guys.
