Vacuum / Electric Solenoid behind Tach

What is the procedure for checking the solenoid on the rear of the Tach that works the vacuum and has the two electrical connections on it?  I've tried "youtube" but found nothing, unless I'm using the wrong designation in looking there. I want to be sure this is good "before" putting the dash back together.
