I have used my T-top bags only a few times and I am of the opinion that the factory bags are junk. They seem to be too small, and are tearing when I try to close them. I am considering having a custom set of lined leather bags made by a leather shop. Does anyone know of a ready made set that are top quality? I have no idea what the bags will cost, but probably around the same price as I see in the Vette magazines for replacements.

Rick,
I would certainly think that the bags offered by either Eckler's or MidAmerica are more than adequate. I do not know if they are leather. Do you really need leather? Seems to me that to get something special made from a shop will cost a fortune. That money is probably better spent in a quality upgrade for your brakes or steering or whatever you plan to work on. But that is just my opinion. I bet you get a bunch of responses to this post cause it is a good question.

Rick,
I have seen a really nice padded case for sale in one of my vette catalogs, but I don't have them here at work. I will take a look at them when I get home and let you know who has it and the price. I was considering buying one myself since it looked real nice. I have the original t top storage bags for my 80's t tops and they have never been used, but they look pretty flimsy.

Vette(s): 1979 Black coupe. 11256 original, documented, miles on it when I bought it in April of 2000. It now has 13100 on it. Oyster interior, like new. Everything original, everything works, except the clock. Paint has a couple of minor flaws.
I ended up with 2 sets of bags when I bought my vette. Don't know why! They are both vinyl with a cloth like lining. they are big enough, but I don't like the button snaps. It would be better if they were velcro. They seem to be adequate. Did yours have a Corvette emblem on them? Mine were plain.

Hi Rick,
I agree with you. My original bags were too tight and a couple of snaps pulled off. I purchased the bags from Mid-America and they are great. A little larger so the tops fit in easily, fleese lined so smooth on the paint or glass and velcro closure so no scratches. Best of all they are only $30.00.
You may want to check out the catalog (part #600-250). Tom.

The bags I have arent labeled at all. They seem to be too small for the tops. I will have to look at Mid America. I would like to have a felt liner in my bags. $30.00 is reasonable for felt lined. I havent talked to the leather shop yet, but from experience, I was thinking she would charge about $40 without lining. I also like the velcro idea. Thanks guys and gals.

Rick,
Just a thought, if you have original bags, it might pay to set them in a corner someplace and not throw them out no matter how junky they are. I don't think anyone ever said things had to be perfect for NCRS, just original.

Hey guys and gals, thanks for the information. Glenn, as always, you have made a good point. I may have thrown them away when I bought new.
