Tank Sticker

This is my first post, so forgive me if it is screwed up.

I have been restoring my 76 corvette for a little more than a year now, relying on valuable information in these forums and should have it on the road soon.

I dropped the fuel tank some time ago to make repairs to the float and there was no tank sticker.  I figured it had been removed at some other time in this car's life, but recently I had to loosen the sheet metal shield between the tank and boot and found what I believe is the sticker pasted into this area (between the shield and boot).  It was not in plastic, but simply glued in.  Of course, it is virtually illegible and about all I can see are lines and a few letters here and there.

Is this a normal place to find the tank sticker?  I thought all corvettes had this mounted to the top of the tank (in plastic) at the factory.

More a curiosity question than a burning need to know - seems odd.

"Tank Stickers" or build sheets were never put in plastic at the factory. Yours could have been placed where you found it by a worker that was having a bad day, or was just horsing around.
Build sheets have been found in many different locations on Shark cars...behind the dash, under the upholstery, even folded, and placed between the strut rod bracket and the differential...ya just never know! Take a pic of it for posterity! And, for proof if anyone ever disputes it!

That's definitely a GOOD first post! Sounds like you may have found it. Maybe next you can add a picture of your restored 76. Nice hearing from you.

  That's funny and I appreciate the answer to this mystery.  I would like to think I would find another copy hidden someplace in the car based on your reply, but I have already been through most of this car.  Although it wasn't rusted too bad, it was home to a nest of squirrels I think.  I have been sucking acorns out of every nook and cranny.

I will post a picture of the car soon.  I painted it (single stage urethane) and after a lot of color sanding and a few fixes, I'm pleased with it.  I have had to do major work within the dash including pulling the infamous heater core and now I'm working on the rest of the interior.  Hopefully it will be road and picture worthy by early June.
