I just took deliver of a 1971 Corvette Convertible and I can't find anywhere if this model year is considered a "Stingray". If so, I'd like to replace the emblems on the car when I restore the body. Thanks for the help.

The Stingray emblems should be on the side of each front fender. You can get some at ebay or any corvette parts supplier. Chuck

Just for history, 63-67 were Sting Rays (two words); 68's had no designation; 69+ were Stingray (one word). The emblems go on the fenders. I ahve seen two different qualities of Corvette emblems. The GM repro is fair to good but the ones produced by The Last Detail are spot on and look like art: http://www.tld-corvette.com/ They sell both types btw. Make sure you ask for the "good ones".

Vette(s): 1979 Black coupe. 11256 original, documented, miles on it when I bought it in April of 2000. It now has 13100 on it. Oyster interior, like new. Everything original, everything works, except the clock. Paint has a couple of minor flaws.
The Last Detail is a first rate operation. Good People!! |smile|

Do any of you know if they have emblems for my baby? I always like to keep in mind who has them. I have an "extra" set, but hey, I plan on keeping her, so maybe one more set.... :)

I was reading a Corvette book one time and they said that the "Sting Ray" was supposed to end with the C2, but sales dropped down for the '68 because people didn't want a shark because they thought it wouldn't be like the popular "Sting Ray," so that is when they started putting the "Stingray" emblems back on the cars and sales went back up. Then in '77 they took them off again and replaced the emblems with the crossed flags.
