Vette(s): 1978 Silver Anniversary model. Original L82 engine, 700r4 trans, edelbrock intake, thorly headers, rack&pinion steering, mono rear and front spring, MSD 6A box
After reading all comments on conversion to rack & pinion I went with it.  Received the kit from the company it was missing the jam nuts, had the company send them over night.  No big problem installing.  Only problem was I have a rubbing of the boot on the oil pan.  The stock pan had a hole in it and the previous owner had installed a after market "spectra" chrome pan.  Is this pan thicker than the stock?  Will a stock pan solve the problem or is their another fix.  One mechanic recommended shims under the motor mounts and trans mounts, this doesn't sound like the way to go.  Any recommendaions?

Check with Steeroids, they know if the standard pan will work.
