I went in to my steering column to try to repair my turn indicator/ cruise/ tilt handle because it just flopped around. All of the switches work fine and the tilt works fine, just wanted to tighten the handle. Past removing the wheel I came across several broken pieces of plastic which I have identified as a "horn contact retainer".

The manual I have only goes as far as removing the wheel so I have no idea how the new part installs and I still havent made it to the turn signal handle. Can anyone direct me to a good diagram of the steering column.

There was a good post on this some time ago. If you search history, I think you will find a diagram

Here's one diagram...your '78 will be a little different, but the basic stuff will be the same.
