Got to 108 once.

With the top down and that little lap belt I didnt stay there long. Had more to give but I really needed a longer, straighter road.

What a blast.

Thats a stock L-48 with headers.

To be honest I take all of mine out every week during the summer and they all see 100 MPH  on one very long straight with clear visibility on a 4 lane divided highway that really does not see all that much traffic...

Funny thing is that a State Trooper lives right off the road and mentioned to me at a car show that He recognized my 64 ..then said all you Corvette guys must drive fast as I see 4-5 go by really fast ...

Did not have the heart to tell him is was me... LOL

Personally however the C2 and C3 Corvettes do tend to get scary at speeds as the front ends kind of lift and the steering gets real light...

SOLD - "The Toy" - '70 Convertible
SOLD - "The Beast" - '90 ZR-1 (#682)
SOLD - "Betty" - '28 Ford Model A Tudor
SOLD - "BLKBRRD" - '78 Pontiac Trans Am
"BLUBYU" - '04 Coupe
I've had both "The Toy" and "The Beast" into triple digits.  In "The Toy" I really had to pay attention to what was going on but "The Beast" is so smooth and solid you can lose track of just how fast you're going until you look at the speedo.

"The Toys"...!!!  Save the Wave!

Where I've been in a Corvette...!!!

All yinz guys are right about getting up to speed in these 'mature' vettes.  Anything above 80 and you have to be very careful...

110 so far.  No dancing, it was very stable.  It wasn't topped out.  I'm not sure how much it will do.

In NJ, Kerbeck Corvette has an annual toys for tots run. Approximately 800 Corvettes stage in a rest area on the Atlantic City Expressway about 18 miles outside of Atlantic City. Around noon the NJ State Police closed down the AC Expressway east bound. At this point we have the semi legal NJ autobahn. I heard the stories in the past but didn’t believe them until I participated in 2007.

According to the Keisler Engineering web page, my big block-4.11-5 speed at 6,500 rpm in 5th should be going a lofty 202 mph. I’ve got a better chance of having children with Shania Twain than seeing 202 mph. I did get up to 4,200 in 5th which is about 130 and held it there for about 5 miles. The car had plenty more to go but I didn’t. Going that fast in a 40 year old car is just a little freaky.  The link below is the high speed lunatic. Some were going as slow as 80 but it seemed most were in the 100+ range. I passed a few and I was also passed as well. Not sure I’ll do it again but it was pretty interesting. A C4 and a C5 broke down but fortunately there were no catastrophes.
