I too have speedo cable noise....and have been reading each post on removing the cable to lubricate. Being a "big ole boy" getting under the dash will be a PITA. I see that Mid America has a "Speedo/Tach Cable Lubricator" listed in their catalogue (part #609-467 - $15.99). It looks like you remove the cable from the trans (or dist), screw the adapter to the cable, then use a grease gun to grease the cable. Sounds too simple....
Has anyone ever used one of these adapters? Does it work?

I'd be interested in hearing about this also. How do you make the decision to replace the whole cable rather than just lubing it? I'm going to give lubing it a shot first, hopefully that'll fix any problems, and if that doesn't do it, then time to get to work.

The inner cores are removed from the gauge side of things. They don't come out on the trans (speedo) or distributor (tach) unfortunately. You probably need to clean the old one first, and then relube it. Also the service manual indicates to only lube 2/3 of the cable to prevent it from entering the back of the gagues. ~Juliet
