Speakers

Hello folks got a problem i need your help on. Iam trying to put new speakers in the dash on top where the originals are. I can get all 3 bolts out that hold the speakers in place but the 4th one closest to the windshield i cannot get. Anyone out there with a suggestion would be helpful. Its a 79 but , i do not think that makes a difference. Thanks a ton Corvettejohn

either needle nose pliers or you may have to make some tool with conections to get inbetween there. thats all i can think of hope it helps

You might try one of those little wrenches that holds a screwdriver bit that's about one inch long. Sears carrys them. They're great for getting into tight places and come with several size Phillips and slotted bits. Good luck, Marc

I had the same problem.
I put a 1/4" socket on it, then turned the socket with pliers.

This may sound odd, but I've actually gone out and bought cheap sockets just for tight areas and modified them to work. mymost common modification is to hex head the outside of the socket on a bench grinder to work with a standard wrench. I fill the center of the socket with JB weld and then grind away. Sounds like a lot of work, but on a flat surface the socket will rest over the head and then the wrench can be used to the socket.

Another option is Sears does sell very small wrenches to fit most of the small hex head fasterns. For areas where the surace is offset these are cheap enough in a set that you can heat them up with a torch and bend them in the vice to get down into these areas.
