spare tire lock

Vette(s): stock original 1979 L82.
anyone know how to get the lock off the bolt. my key fits but doesn't turn so I'm going with its a different key for the lock.

I don't know if the 79 lock is the same as mine..but I use a square key to unlock the car and start the car and the round key unlocks the spare tire lock..mine was tight had to spay deep creep into it to get it to move.maybe a locksmith could get it off without drilling !

 Mine is after market, has a key of its own.  It came with the car, and key will not fit door or switch.

I agree with Rich about spraying it with penetrating oil a few times to see if it is just stuck.  If that doesn't work, remove the whole assembly, bolt and all, and take it to a locksmith, or just break it off and replace it.  You can take the whole assembly off by unbolting the bracket from the frame.
