Right hand drive

Ron, I talked with Rick Robbins - Director of Quality and the Paul Schnoes - previous General Manager of the Corvette Plant - Bowling Green, KY, along with two of the end of line inspectors that worked at the St. Louis plant, as well, at the Bowling Green plant and they all said that GM never produced a right hand drive vette.

I have seen a 65,66 or 67 Vette (wasn't into them then so not sure of the exact year) at a show some years ago here in England that was right hand drive. It was a conversion done in Hong Kong in the seventies and the owner of it now was out there saw it and brought it back with him. The only other ones I know of are again coach built items in Australia. I have a 67 327 manual left hand drive convertible that has been hit in the front and is taking me years to put back on the road and I have very recently bought a 79 350 manual to run around in. Even the wife manages to drive it although she does scare me sometimes when she turns from a side road to a main road on the wrong side.

I'm from the Northern Territory in Oz and we have no laws requiring us to convert to RHD. It's not such a problem driving on the correct side of the road with the wheel on the wrong side of the car. You only have to be careful when overtaking. All states in Oz will let you register a LHD Classic without a problem. Only Queensland makes you put a sign on the back saying "CAUTION LHD" but Queenslanders are like that. They even spell beer "XXXX"......

one more thing..... we have no speed limits on the open road in the Northern Territory and that's great for a Vette.
