Rides on TLC

If anyone watched or is going to watch Rides this week which focuses on Year One, 35 minutes into the show you will see a black 71 doing a burnout. Yes, it is me. Year One is about 45 minutes from Atlanta and they had their monthly bash and TLC happened to be there filming. If you get a chance, check it out. It only lasts about 3 seconds, so don't blink!
The car hooks up so well it was hard to keep it in place. The 4 speed with no line lock didn't make it any easier.

That was my first "official" burnout contest and it was a lot of fun. I am now thinking about adding a line lock.

I missed it. Work has been keeping my night time TV viewing at a minimum. I will try to catch a reair.

I also stayed and watched the next show about a frame off restore of a 64 coupe in 7 days.

That show is Overhaulin' and I have to tell you, they do top notch work. Foose is one of the best designers and automotive crafstmen out there and it shows on the cars they build on that show. The '64 was handled by Steve LuVisi at Automotive Expertise Unlimited...I take my '70 to his shop. Steve has done over 100 body-offs in his career and really knows his stuff...the last time I was there he was completing a '70 454 Laguna Gray Vert and a '65 327 Vert, along with a few others in various states of disassembly. I saw the '64 Vette from the show a few months back at a local cruise-in and it is an amazing car. The paint and bodywork on the car were flawless, as were the interior and complete suspension and drivetrain. I've seen a bunch of the Overhaulin' cars in person and they are all absolutely gorgeous...it's amazing that they accomplish all of that work in 7 days. Just this morning I saw the Olds 442 that they did, and last week I saw the El Camino at a gas station. Keep in mind that there are usually over a dozen people working on the car 24 hours a day from start to finish.

Overhaulin is a great show. I admit it amazes me. I would love to be part of the crew working on one of those. I'd like it even better if they did mine. But here in Ohio I know neither one is happening. Guess I just have to tune in.

Maybe we here can all send in letters to overhauling and get them to do yours Ken! How is your acting skills? I dont think they really fool them into thinking its stolen when cameras are floating around. but I do think its genuine surprise when they see their car for the first time.
