Ramps

Vette(s): 1975 convertible,with the hard top and power streering.it a 350 L48 with auto trans. the color is light blue.
Need to put my car up in the air to work on it. Thinking about getting a set of ramps from pep boys ....will these work on a vette or should I get something different,not a big fan of Jack stands.

Depends on the ramps, Rick. Anytime you're going to be working UNDER the vehicle, you want to make sure you don't scrimp on the quality of the equipment holding the car up off your head.
Another thing to watch for with ramps is the angle....some are too steep, and the front fenders of a Corvette will hit/drag/scrape on the ramp....not gud.  You can use some 2"x6" planks to extend the ramps out to where this doesn't happen, but again, that depends on the ramps themselves.
If you prefer ramps over jacking/jackstands, there ain't nuttin wrong with that. Just get the best you can afford, and make sure they are sturdy.....shake the car side-side before crawling under it, to be sure it won't go anywhere. Thumbs Up

Vette(s): 1982 C3 Collectors Edition 44000 miles, sat in the sun most of its life, My wife purchased it for me for Father's Day in 2007 from her girlfriend that had it for 19 years. It is on the road again. I'm retired but it is now my daily driver.
If you send me a PM with your email I will send you two documents that show how to make your own.  I'm considering that so it is easier on me when It come to detailing the car.  The older I get the less I like to be on my hands and knees.  

One is a short ramp the other is designed to get the car about 18 inch off of the ground.  Simple construction.  If this forum would ever let you attache a pdf document I would do that but until then PM your personal email and I will send them to you if anyone want them.
