I appreciate everyone's input on my thread involving de coding the trim tag.  My new question is, where can I find out how many 2 tone Dark Bronze/Beige Vettes were produced in 81?  The Black Book has it as -, along with the other 2 tone cars.

I got the link from one of you who was nice enough to steer me in that direction for the National Corvette Museum and I am about to order the original invoice and build sheet.

This car is definitely a 2 tone car as the paint is under the current paint as proof and the trim tag is definitely different and shows the color pattern above.

Any suggestions would be appreciated!!

Have a great Easter Weekend!!Smile

I have no info on the two-tone paint quantities from BG...just the ones(solid colors) from St. Louie...
I'm sure the BG assy plant kept some records, but, '81 being the first year of production there, they may not be complete...too many other things going on at the time to worry aboot "how many of these did we paint?"...

My black Book says the numbers were mixed into the 33 (Silver), 50 Beige), and 80 (Red) codes.

Since the 50 code is beige you were most likely somewhere in there. There were 2,239 of them. Looks like a rare color even when you add the 6% error rate the book mentions.....

There were two Beige's that year.....code 59 listed separately.

Because 1981 was the year of production at both SL and BG and they didn't start until June 1981 in BG, I wouldn't think there would have been many.
Are you thinking of having it repainted its original colors?
