Vette(s): Just finished 2 years of Blood, Sweat, & Tears restoring my 69 Coupe. Crimsom Red, 427, vacuum removed, Shot of Steeroids, Killer Lights, 5 Speed, still working on small things but she is back on the road.
Well, I think I have my pictures of the status of my rebuild I mentioned the other night. Thanks for the help in getting the site to post my pictures. If you would like to take a look here is the site.

Glad to see you got set up. That is some kind of nice work you are doing. One question what is the sheet metal plate under the diff for?

that sheet metal is a heat shield,so the exhaust wont fry the rubber bushings in the spring,or cook the rear end gasket |thumb|

That makes perfectly good sense. First time I can recall seeing one of those. Is this a homemade heatshield or a storebought item?

Real nice work!
My 78 had a large heat shield under the diff that I had to remove when I installed VBP Smart Struts.I also went with a VBP 360 lb glass spring that has a temp rating of 235F so rather than fabricate a new heat shield I wraped the rear Y pipe with 2''wide heat wrap insulation.

No, that is the heat shield that can with the Suspension Package.
Thanks, I'm off to the Master Blasters on Monday to get the body cleaned. It has 4 coats of paint all different colors. Long way to go but now for the fun it seems every wheel well has been cut. |cussing|

According to MSD and Robbie at the Speed Shop I should be OK. The sleeves provided by MSD are very heat tolerant and they are adjustable so once I get the body back on I can bend them so they don't touch anything and hopefully, have enough clearance not to get any more heat on them than they can hamdle. If they do give me a problem I'll have to come up with another way to dress them away from the headers maybe extending one or two of the wires and using a bracket of some kind.
