I have the original Goodyear "Gator Backs" off of Rare stored. They have probably about maybe 7k to 10k left on them. The raised white letters are excellent.
I haven't given much thought about selling them.. figured I would get another set of rims and have them mounted and if I get her NCRS judged I would have the original equipment
Hmmmmmmm don't know if I would sell them or not..

Doug, if I looked up the specs correctly for your car, they should be 225/70R15 with Raised White Letters.
Goodyear makes a "Ealge GT II" in that size with rasied white letters.
TireRack.com has them for sale at http://www.tirerack.com/tires/goodyear/gy_egt2.jsp
Check it out and let us know if this is what you are looking for.

Vette(s): 1978 INDY PACE CAR #3016 of #6502 built. Has original Pace car decals still in GM boxes the way it was delivered to GM dealers. per NCRS "UPDATE" Decals applied as of 3/8/02 (ALL ORIGINAL)
Adam, The tires that came out on the vette were 255/60R15 Goodyear GT1. The white letters were outlined. I was hoping to find a set of these to make it more original. But, the Goodyear GT2's would work also, and the NCRS judges would not give me a point deduction. But the problem with those tires is the white letters are completely solid.
Also Bud, It sounds like your tires are pretty special to you and I would have a hard time affording them.

Thanks Chuck, The tires that I was referring to as Goodyear GT1'S are radials. The GT1's are the first generation goodyears which are no longer in production in the size and look I need. That will be 255/60R15(OWL)white letter symbol. These tires are the OEM for the Indy Pace Cars.Goodyear now makes the second generation Goodyears G2's which are currently in production.Size 255/60SR15(SL-RWL)white letter symbol. This tire is also a radial. Same size different white letter!

Finally managed to round up a set of Goodyear radials, thought I would post a picture and show you what they look like. It took a little while but after talking to about twenty tire dealers and making several phone calls it worked out.

Also, finally got around to putting door decals on Pace Car.

Nice tires and nice looking Pace car. I missed a nice on of those last fall with 32K on it, one owner and all original. Belonged to a lady who got it in a divorce deal. Kinda kick by butt now for not going the extra few bucks, but no point in being swamp yankee if you can't be thrifty.......LOL.......
tnx for pictures. Swampy
