I have an oil leak on my 1974 454.It doesn't leak until after the engine has been shut off for a couple hours or so. After I wiped it clean I checked it and found that the leak was very, very small on the very front of the oil pan inside of the flange. Is it coming from inside the pan? I put cardboard down and it takes awhile for the spot to get large. Any ideas? Thanks

Sounds like it could be the rubber seal between the pan, and the timing cover, or it could also be the timing cover seal around the harmonic balancer. IF it's the seal between the pan and timing cover, you might be able to slow/fix the leak by cleaning it very well, and running a small bead of silicon in the groove between the two parts. Otherwise, it's removing the pan time....
If it's the timing cover seal, you'll need to remove the balancer, and replace the seal.

Every Chevrolet I have ever owned has leaked oil, including my 2 Vettes.

You can figure about 3 hours on labor for someone that knows how to do the job properly.
Replacing the oil pan gasket/seals is about a 4 hour deal.
The timing cover seal itself is only a few dollars, a pan gasket set a little more. Labor prices would be dependent on what shops in your area charge per hour.
