First off, this is a hell of a site.

Question is what do these numbers tell me ?

Chevrolet C14
Trim 92 9L Paint

Or is it
Trim 192 19L Paint

Thanks,
Gary

192 looks like black leather interior...
You might want to have another look at the numbers.

Hi, Gary.

Ineteresting array of numbers. From 1977-1982, code "19" means black (applies to interior and exterior). "C14" is the assembly date, also affectionately known as your Vette's birthday. For a '78, that decodes as November 14, 1977.

The "L" in your paint code might be for "Lacquer". I'm still looking into that one to be sure.

It would help if you could tell me what the first six characters of your VIN are.

John

Nice looking ride, Gary. |thumb| |cool|

Your 1978 "L" code vette should be carrying the L-48 350, rated @ 185hp (or 175hp with a California smog pump). As Owen said, trim code "192" is black leather.

Paint code "19L" is black manufactured by Ditzler. 1978 finishes were provided by Ditzler ("L"), Dupont ("U"), and Rinished-Mason ("M").

Welcome to the pond.

Don't worry, the Sharks and the Stingrays are very friendly here. |cheers|
